Comrade Parizek Announces Candidacy for
Vice Chairman Western Conference 2022-2023
Comrades and Friends,
I would like to take this opportunity to announce my candidacy for the Vice Chairman of the Western Conference for 2022-2023.
I earned my eligibility for the Veterans of Foreign Wars for my service aboard the USS Newport News (CA-148) off the coast of Vietnam in 1972. My decorations include the Combat Action Ribbon, Navy Unit Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.
I have served the Western Conference in the past as Secretary-Treasurer for 2016-2018, and as Secretary-Treasurer Pro Tempore at our conference last year in Cheyenne.I was the meeting planner for the 2011 Western Conference held in Ogden, UT, and am currently on the planning committee for the 2023 Western Conference to be held in Salt Lake City. I have also served on various committees. I have attended almost all Western Conferences in the past 20 years.
I joined the VFW in 1973 at Post 753 in Minot, N.D., later transferring to Post 1481 in Ogden, Utah, where I maintain my Gold Legacy Life membership. I served in elected and appointed positions at the Post, District and Department levels, culminating with my election as Department Commander in 2005, in which I earned the distinction of All-American. I am currently serving as the Department Adjutant/Quartermaster, a position I have held since 2012, and as the Utah National Council Member, a position I have held since 2016.
My loving and supporting family includes my wife of 43 years Judy, who is active in the Auxiliary, son and daughter-in-law, and two grandchildren.
