Timothy (Tim) Von Bon was elected Judge Advocate of the Veterans
of Foreign Wars of the United States, Department of Utah, on June 4, 2023, at
the 2023 VFW, Department of Utah, State Convention.
Tim
served in the United States Air Force from February 1982 to September 1996 at
locations worldwide, including Hill AFB, UT; Kunsan AB, Republic of Korea (ROK);
Nellis AFB, NV; and Torrejon AB, Spain. Tim earned his eligibility to join the
VFW through his service in the ROK where he earned the Korea Defense Service
Medal. He was recruited into the VFW by Sandy Rosenthal at the Utah State Fair
in September 2009, and became a Life Member in 2011.
At
Post level, Tim has served as Jr. and Sr. Vice Commander, and Adjutant.
At
District level, he has served as Jr. and Sr. Vice Commander, Commander (All-State
District Commander).
At
Department level, Tim has served as Chief of Staff under Commander Mark
Luddington, State Inspector under Commanders Doug Larson and Dave Johnson, POW/MIA
Program Chair, State Convention By-Laws Committee, Webmaster/Social Media Chair, and Time & Place Chair.
Tim has
received National Appointments to the POW/MIA Committee during the 118th VFW
National Convention, Deputy Inspector General, and Deputy Chief of Staff.
Tim
currently maintains his Silver Legacy Life membership at Miller-Frasier VFW
Post 8307 in Layton, UT. He’s married to VFW Auxiliary Life Member, Jill Von
Bon. They have three children (all Auxiliary members), three dogs, and a cat.
